About Me
It's funny that there should be an 'About' page on a blog – I always thought the entirety of most blogs focused on what a person is about. Things a person finds important, likes, dislikes, past and current events that have some significance - but I will happily lay down a few specific things about me that I might not otherwise get to in the course of things.
I'm from a medium-sized town (now a moderately small city, it seems) northwest of Chicago, and a lot of my family still lives up there. I am soon to be a resident (once again) of a new state where I will start working as a youth librarian – a job I'm pretty sure I could love and be with for a long long time. My favorite movie is The Princess Bride and my favorite book is A Star Called Henry (Roddy Doyle). My favorite genre of music falls into the sensitive singer-songwriter category – I love the kings (Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, among others) as well as the new guys (David Gray and Ray Lamontagne, among others). I like parenthetical statements and throwing hyphens in rather than starting new sentences. And I can't stand any of these Burger King or Hardee's commercials.
