Irrationally Happy Time
Yo Gabba Gabba is a crazy good kids show on Nick Jr. – and this particular bit with the Ting Tings covering Altered Images’ Happy Birthday has inspired me to reconstruct the whole soundtrack to one of my favorite movies of all time, Sixteen Candles. Apparently the soundtrack was never released commercially, so I’m going to have to buy them all from Captain iTunes.

finally!
Episode 4 of Inanimate Alice. I haven’t watched it yet, as I am currently waiting for it to download at 1.22 gigawatts per second. Er something. I have high hopes.

Sex and the City
I finally saw a preview for the Sex and the City movie that actually suggested some plot details other than ‘we’re friends! we’re walking! wedding dress!’ None of it is still very shocking but the most unexpected thing in this new preview is the Issue that is hinted at between Miranda and Steve, which just seems mean to do to them.

I of course will go to see this movie and I’m 92% sure that I will be angry that I did – I think they wrapped up the show so well 4 years ago that this is pretty unnecessary. But this show got me through some tough times (full time waitressing at OCharleys, no less) so even if they make me mad, I will probably still love it. Unless they really push that Miranda/Steve thing.

so cute it hurts
I’ve been subscribing to Ultra Kawaii’s podcast, and it is ridiculously cute. It’s videos and photos of animals in various stages of ridiculousness, hosted by these two goofy dudes who seem to be living in an already-furnished college apartment (v. white walls, minimal oak-y furniture). The animations are great, too, especially Stunt Kitty (there’s nine!):

Northern. Whether you have the world famous Inland North accent of the Great Lakes area, or the radio-friendly sound of upstate NY and western New England, your accent is what used to set the standard for American English pronunciation (not much anymore now that the Inland North sounds like it does).

I like books
And thanks to the Ornery Librarian , now I know what book I am:

You’re The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe!
by C.S. Lewis
You were just looking for some decent clothes when everything changed
quite dramatically. For the better or for the worse, it is still hard to tell. Now it
seems like winter will never end and you feel cursed. Soon there will be an epic
struggle between two forces in your life and you are very concerned about a betrayal
that could turn the balance. If this makes it sound like you’re re-enacting Christian
theological events, that may or may not be coincidence. When in doubt, put your trust
in zoo animals.

:o)
Thank heavens for Boingboing. Without it I would be both tragically unhip (and the hip I’m striving for is the ubercool geeky kind) and I would never have known about this. Which is delighting and amusing me to no end. I never managed to beat Super Mario 3 – Stacy, Caitlin and I spent the better part of 5th grade playing Mario I in my basement; I think I completed II on my own, and I definitely started working on III, but I started to get too old and focused on dangly earrings by then. And floppy flowered hats.
Benj finally couldn’t stand my whining about being on the waiting list for the cd anymore and found a bunch of Regina Spektor songs for me – I am so happy to be listening to them over and over again. She is very weird, but she turns a hell of a phrase. I have about three songs stuck in my head right now. On the radioUH-OH/On the radioUH-OH. That’s one of them.
